6-30-11 Life Around Home

The last while we haven’t been doing much. Yesterday we went down to the creek, but the water was pretty cold so we didn’t swim too much. We were very glad to find that our swimming hole, which had filled in with sand a couple rains ago, washed back out so we can have a bigger place to splash around in. Jacob wanted some minnows for the turtles, so he, Kate, and I ran down to the aqueduct to catch a seine-full. One run with the seine was all it took, and we had enough to feed our two turtles for quite a while. Actually, we would have three turtles, but one of our first two turtles drowned, and Tuesday while doing flood gates Jacob caught another one. Today we had quite a bit of work in the garden but we had it all done by noon in time to go to the creek.

Josh still loves to read books. He starts with all the books on one side, and then as he gets done with them he puts them on the other side.

The other night at supper there were some deer out in the bean field. Josh even got to see them which he liked.

Grandpa and Grandma Steiner dropped by with this wonderful cake for Mom’s birthday.

Then Sandi dropped by with some gooey, cinnamony, rolly, type things (can’t remember name) for Mom.

After supper we played softball.
