Nuggets Along the Trail: 6-11-11 Flood Gates Etc..

Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

6-11-11 Flood Gates Etc..

Friday Dad came home at noon so we could do the flood gates. Our swimming hole that was up to my chest is now down to my knees. It was alot easier to do them since the water was shallow!! Then we put the battery on the fence and did some more weed eating. Dad and Jacob chased the cows up. Saturday night we took a walk down to the south grove and looked at Jacob’s trees. Then we walked down to the cow pasture. Since it was just baled, the grass wasn't very long at all. We took our baseball gloves with us so we played catch for a while. Then Ben found a toad that was about one-fourth of an inch long in a little swampy area. It was starting to dry up so there were puddles with hundreds of little toad tadpoles in it! We went home and got some containers. We caught some little bitty minnows too!! It was fun!!!

What in the world are we doing?!

You can see us down by that tree and by the cows.

Everyone else went back to the house, and Tori, Jacob, Ben, and I stayed down there to catch some of the little critters! Mom took the picture from the top of the hill.

The toads!! Cute aren't they!(hahaha)

Can’t see it very well but these are little bitty minnows!!

Mom-isms

When you've got a lot of irons in the fire, sometimes you're gonna get burnt.
Much gain comes to him who hustles while waiting.
