11-29-13 Mabel

Mom has been reading out loud to us. She reads chapter books. She read the In Grandma’s Attic series. A little girl named Arleta visits her Grandma Mabel who tells Arleta stories about when she and her best friend Sarah Jane were kids. I will tell my best story.

Mabel and Sarah Jane were allowed to pick up windfalls in their neighbor’s apple orchard.  One day they saw an apple that was really nice and the two girls really wanted it. They waited for the apple to fall because they wanted to give it to their school teacher.  The apple would not fall so one day Mabel said to Sarah Jane, “I’m gong to climb the tree and shake the branch so the apple will fall.” So she did. They both felt guilty but Mabel said, “It did fall.” So they gave the apple to the teacher.  It ended up that they had to confess.

Front screen door this morning was beautiful.

Levi took the kids skating on U. Harley’s creek this afternoon – a first for us. He also took these pictures for me, as I couldn’t get away to join them.

You’re right if you’re thinking this looks familiar. It’s the favorite swimming hole of summers past. Who knew?!

Levi took three littles on a walk to the tunnels under Allentown Road.
