Gray Days

Pretty skies even though it’s not all that nice out.

Thursday while Mom was gone I built this, using up almost all of our lego pieces.

My “work of art” on Friday while making cookies.

Josh has been having a great time with his new little drone. It has some sort of senser on it, so it automatically moves away from your hand and anything else that is there.

These are the cookies that came from my work of art.

Another one of Josh’s prizes, a Pop-Catch Game.

We’re shooting at something here. Probably Rascal or wolves.

That sums up Friday afternoon.

Sunday afternoon Lance brought B, B, and S out. We walked across the road and then down to the south grove and the lake.

Ben wasn’t too sure about the branch.

Lance was impressed by Little Boss, our most recent addition to the zoo. He’s just a baby bullsnake and is so cute.

Kaitlyn had Alayna, who brought her own horse, and Bethany over to ride.

Happy Birthday Jake! I hope you enjoyed your single grape!

Monday night we celebrated Jacob’s birthday with Levi and Echo and some strawberry pie.

We headed down to the lake then to do some fishing.

About that time Dad took my fishing pole for a few casts. Notice Josh in the background on the bridge. Not sure what he’s doing.

Josh and Levi caught two fish each. I didn’t get any.

Levi had just pulled in this fish and was planning to give it to Rascal, but it flopped off by itself. She had already grabbed it and was halfway down the dam when we realized the hook was gone. It was quite the fiasco getting the hook out of the fish while the fish was in Rascal’s mouth. After that Rascal was taking no chances with the fish, and she headed all the way home and buried it in the field which they ripped the next morning.

Yesterday Toni came over with her three kids, Cheyenne, Weston, and baby Kayley. Echo came too.

while Weston liked the four-wheeler better.

In the evening we just hung out while Dad & Mom walked. Ben was at driver’s ed, and Josh went with Jesse to Menard’s.

And once it got semi-dark, Jesse experiminted with the nozzle he got for his blow furnace.

And so that’s it.

Summer Week

So nice to see the sun Monday morning. We’re all ready for a little summer here. And little tyke has learned how to reach for things – oh so cute to watch her go!

Fun to have a few Baer cubs Monday evening.

Busy day Tuesday – already reported about field trip. Evening found a few of us at the lake.

Wednesday brought another summer day and a few special kids and their moms for lunch.

I have no pictures (!!) of our lunch Thurday at the Kochs’. Another beautiful summer day and a great time. Home to enjoy an hour or so with Little Miss Smiley.

Josh really likes his new pet,

but Kiowa wasn’t much impressed with it.

And she rolled over!

Yesterday I chased all morning and Kruz came in the afternoon. No px of either. And the temp dropped all day, thus ending our summer week.

Back to another sign of spring -

Never get tired of this sweetheart’s visits.

Or her parents.

And today was sunny but really cool and windy. A day of kitchen jobs, cleaning jobs, bovine jobs, yard jobs, chick jobs, and garden jobs. Three kids left early on a TYG trip to the Ark Encounter in Kentucky. I snagged a couple of pictures from FB but that’s all the px I have from today.

And that’s a glimpse of our week. I didn’t mention the jazz choir concert I attended with Jacob, Ben attending driver’s ed four nights, me driving Ben and five other kids to and from driver’s ed on one of those nights, lots of mowing that was done, the work we did in the orchards and blackberries and raspberries, Kate going to Jenna’s one morning, Kate and Ben working at Encore all week, and a whole bunch of other stuff like laundry and cooking and trying to keep the train on the track and running on time.

Whew, no wonder I’m tired!

And it’s good to just sit and reflect and be thankful for good health to do all the above and more.

I am blessed.
