July 2026

July 2026
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Hot evening so a few kids landed at lake awhile.

Another Wednesday lake day - possibly the last.

Visit to Grandpa - and other visitors were there too.

Sunday evening after supper - finally a little cooler!

In which Natalie and I upset Jacob and Adam๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ’ฅ

Josh enjoyed the tyg Labor Day Weekend Invite so wasn't around a whole lot.

Labor Day. Some kids were with camping groups. Some were working. One had school. Some of us went hiking at McNaughton Park in Pekin. Beautiful day.

These from Sarah -

Our destination - Lick Creek

(Part of McNaughton Park)
Currently open but undergoing renovations with exciting plans for the future. Turns out the young lady managing the renovations is a third cousin to Adam. Only in Smalltown USA!

Still much work to do but much has already been done. Dad and I did a staycation day here in 2020 with the three littles; and even then it was neglected and declining. Evidently it finally closed for a couple of years; and just since February the restoration has been ongoing.

This was just curious to me. Idk what's going on with that but I hope to visit every so often and check out the progress on the place.

Delicious lunch afterwards in Morton.

That evening then Ben & Coreena stopped in on their way home from Branson and Teddy was cute as a button but I got no pictures.

Kaiser Day 2026

 Sunday 8.30

Kaiser Day 2026 was held at UMarks after church and was hosted by UMark&ARenee and UMike&AJoyce. It was the usual super hot but with fans and their pool everyone seemed to stay cool and have a good time re-connecting anyways. I only got a few pictures because I was chatting; and frankly I was just too hot to think about it much.

Anyway - here are a few peeks.

These from Grandma -

Well. This was on her ipad but clearly Grandma didn't take it. Idk who gets photo creds but it's not me or Grandma.

And that's a wrap for Kaiser Day and August 2026.

August Happenings

 Wednesday 8.19

More rain in the forecast so lake day again became lunch at grandma's day.

Did you spot the sweet little one who isn't my grandchild but still calls me grandma - because everyone else does, right?

New kittens and their mama (called a queen in official animal lingo).

Parts of Morton got 4.5" rain in a couple hours. After church, we went to see the raging creek behind UJerry's house. Pretty amazing.

Corner of Jackson and Tennessee. The pond there - buried.
