11-30-15 Thanksgiving

But first, a few happenings of the week before Thanksgiving - - -

After a blessed morning at church praising God for all He’s done for us, we hosted a crowd of Steiners for the afternoon and evening. Though we missed U. Jeff’s, we enjoyed our time with everyone else.

The predicted rain never came *hurray!* and the youngest crowd was very happy about that!

Well it really wasn’t cold at all, but we were admiring our entire collection of A. Sarah blankets.

And if you don’t have an A. Sarah blanket, you are missing out. They are highly prized and greatly used around here.

If I remember right, Kate brought up not one, not two, not three, not four . . . .but FIVE blankets from off her bed! She & Tori like their room chilly *like REALLY chilly*, and then they pile *like REALLY pile* on the blankets.

Guess who missed all the fun?

No Steiner gathering is complete without some games.

And no Steiner gathering is complete without some singing.

And - no Steiner gathering is complete without some wrestling!

11-17-15 16th Annual Leaf Raking Day

Last weekend was a beautiful weekend. Friday was a little cool but Saturday and Sunday were perfect. We enjoyed them while we could because rain was predicted for the beginning of this week (which we are getting).

Friday afternoon found three little Sauder kids here for a while. Lexi had a school trip so she didn’t get here until later.

Levi’s old mattress got hauled out of his room and has been in the big room of the basement. It’s pretty fun pulling it up the stairs and riding down on it. Friday night we spent a fair amount of time downstairs wrestling and playing with the mattress and just being wild. Actually there was one night last week when Jake and I were a bit hyper and Jake was literally throwing the mattress at me……

“Nap” time.

They stayed over night, and after breakfast they got picked up by their Gpa and Gma. Jesse, Jake, Ben, and Wes camped out with some other guys back in the timber. Jacob came back home pretty early so we could get the tarp for our ice rink laid out. We don’t have any pics but it actually went pretty good. We had several tanks of water that we had fill  the day before so we could get as much water in as soon as possible before the wind kicked up. Which of course it did, but we already had a bunch of water in it at that point.

After the Sauder kids got picked up and we had the rink going good, we all went to A. Sarah’s for the Annual Leaf Raking Day. It was a beautiful day with not tons of wind but plenty of sun; and the leaves were mostly dry which makes things go a lot better.

One of the best parts for the little kids is playing in the leaves and getting your boots full of leaves and getting leaves down your back and neck and pants…I know I used to think it was fun too, but it’s really not that fun anymore.

We also picked up some neighbor's leaves which were wet and heavy and just plain disgusting so the kids didn’t get to play in them.

and a great snack of candy & soda and donuts & milk.

After we got back from A. Sarah’s, Jesse, Jake, and Ben went to U. Jerry’s to help them dig out their crawl space. Levi and Echo came over and everyone, except Tori and I who went riding, went to Levi's house where they did some yardwork.

Back home---looks like Josh and his kitty friend are having fun together.

That pretty much wraps up this post. We monitored the rink all day as it filled, and Levi and Echo stayed for supper and the evening which was fun. Sunday we went to the monthly hymn singing, and young group was in charge so we older kids had to stay later to lock the place up. And now Monday was here and gone and it’s already Tuesday……and it’s still raining.
