Good-bye September

We enjoyed a sweet Anya this afternoon, and then tonight we welcomed a sweet puppy into our lives.

Brandi is a 7-week-old chocolate lab and, in case you didn’t notice, is cute as a button.

Harvest

Yep it’s that favorite time of the year. Temps finally dropped (although forecast says they’re going back up to 89d next week), and we’re loving this cooler weather. We’ve had our two days of harvest hassle, where every kid gets to ride in the combine, tractor, grain truck, and semi. Yeah it’s kind of a hassle, but I wouldn’t miss it for anything because it’s a beautiful time of the year and it’s a blessing to get a tiny slice of the harvest season which many kids (and adults) only get to watch from the road.

So we do the hassle.

- - - and school - - - well, the books get put away for a few days. We just call it a field trip .

Oh – and Ben has been driving the tractor with the augur wagon all week. He’s up early to do a healthy chunk of school and then off to the best kind of work a kid could want – driving something big. Gotta love it.

Hot weekend brought out the Monopoly board awhile.

Saturday evening was really unique since we just had Josh. After a Mexican supper with Echo & Kiowa, Levi finished harvesting and joined us at DQ.

Meanwhile, five kids were at TYG, and A. Joyce took Sarah and Jewel with her to spend the evening with some pretty sweet Kieser cousins.

Monday evening we zipped up to the field for a bit of harvest fun.

Tuesday after we sang with the residents at Restmor we had a few special friends join us for a *hot* picnic.

Nick caught an amazing shovelfish in our sandbox.

Kaitlyn sure enjoys babysitting these sweet little guys – and we’re all glad she brought them out here yesterday.

Initially Kiowa wasn’t sure what to think when Echo gave Clay a snuggle,

but I think she was ok with him pretty quickly!

It’s calving season here on the Kaiser Ranch, and several trips a day are made to check for new calves and on the two healthy black bull calves so far.

Weekend

Well, surprise! I did manage to take a few pictures this weekend; these were on my phone and I forgot about them when I posted on Saturday.

Key word: *few*

This was Friday – a beautiful evening at Levi & Echo’s. I think the topic under study was ventriloquism. Which is a pretty amazing talent if you’re wanting some amazement in your life now and then.

Sunday afternoon Dad took an impromptu nap while the rest of the crowd enjoyed something hilarious but I don’t remember what it was.

Thankful

We rejoice to let you know that Jewel has recognized her unsaved condition and that she is in need of a Saviour. We are thankful and humbled by God’s grace to grant repentance.

Half Over

Well life has been busy lately but that’s no surprise right? We had a wonderfully relaxing (kind of) summer, and now in the month since school’s started we’ve seen a little faster pace. We’ve switched a few curriculi already and started a couple new things that seem to be working well; so school is finally settling into a nice routine. But blogging - - - not so much! So - - - time for a little catchup. Hard to believe September is half over. Where in the world did it go?

Back to sometime a while ago when Levi & Echo went with us to DQ. We ended up at a new park in Morton; I think it’s called Memorial Park. I’m pretty sure it’s the only park in the world with a pumpkin slide and a pile of (painted rock) pumpkins to climb on.

Last Sunday evening these two were trying to cut low-hanging branches so we could play cornhole under the ash tree. Quite the pair.

Last Monday - - Labor Day - - water was a mite chilly but with hot temps, we all ended up at the lake awhile. Little Miss Smiley loved it!

Labor Day afteroon brought us this awesome sun on a super windy day. Later reports said that smoke from the western wildfires caused it.

The lighting was really odd all afternoon. A crowd of Kaisers admired the sun before we had supper.

I haven’t taken many pictures lately. I’m not sure why except that life has been busy and I haven’t thought of it. So - - - fast forward to last Sunday evening when we had a crowd of friends over for a cookout on a beautiful evening. Good singing, good talks, good times around the fireburner.

Remember this project? It got shelved for the summer due to lack of motivation. Summer’s over (well, kind of. With a high of 88 today it sure felt like summer.), so it’s time to finish it up.
