Happy Birthday Josh

Ceci never lacks for attention when she’s here.

Love this picture. Levi was singing here, that’s why the funny expression. I still like the picture though!

First time I’ve ever seen a birthday gift (or any gift for that matter) wrapped in toilet paper. Guess it worked though.

Ceci was enthralled with Kiowa. So cute!

Jacob got a hovercraft for Josh. Ceci was mesmerized, and even Kiowa was watching it.

Somehow a sensor on the thing keeps it hovering 12” or so above anything that’s placed under it. Pretty cool. Except sometimes the thing would go crazy  - flying all over the place, tumbling and crashing, totally uncontrolled by the remote. Too much fun!

Josh has been needing a cd/cassette player for a while. He really was excited although he doesn’t look like it.

And he wanted this jump rocket for Christmas so was pretty excited to get it for his birthday instead. It flew pretty high outside and didn’t even land on the roof! (yet)

But this bb gun from Jesse was his favorite gift!

Dad even had to help on the “stupid” puzzle. It’s coming right along.

Monday Moments

The Love Of God

Saturday morning - kids had fun across the road while Dad & a crew hauled manure. Find two kids and a dog.

Somebody decided it wasn’t as warm as it looks (perhaps remembering last Saturday?).

Beautiful day.

Thin layer of ice on rink - - - but noone’s getting hopes up yet.

Tori took three on a creek trek.

Quick trip to Levi & Echo’s to help clean up after the days’ re-wiring work.

Since Echo was helping upstairs, A. Sarah was happy to love on Kiowa.

Almost got that smile! And I think Kiowa is laying on the quilt that Great-Grandma Kaiser made for her.

Back home, all snugged in and started a 2000 piece puzzle, a first for this family. Time will tell if we can get ‘er done.

Some of us take puzzling really seriously.

Josh started a 300 piece, and as of today he finished it solo. Good job Josh!

Saturday evening Grandpa and Grandma brought Josh an early birthday present.

New project – cutting squares for a denim comforter.

Good help from Grandpa. He’s obviously done this a time or three before!

Sunday was another blessed day at church. With a couple of visiting Bible Classes and work teams all home again, church was full and singing was beautiful. Especially The Love of God in the afternoon. Powerful words to a beautiful song. A fun evening at U. Dave’s then later, especially trying to Fool the Frog.

Cuteness Overload

Yes well these six are definitely cuteness but not exactly overload.

This is cuteness overload. She was mesmerized watching the kids. Precious.

Somebody is going to have a birthday next week, so A. Sarah brought him some birthday bars yesterday which were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thanks ASK!

And - yesterday afternoon we saw the sun.

And blue skies.

And they were beautiful!

And, back where we started – music and a whole lot more cuteness overload.

Hooded Bath Towel

I enjoy making these snuggly towels to give as baby gifts and decided to preserve the directions so my kids and others can make them too. They’re fast and easy to throw together; hopefully these instructions will be helpful.

First, buy a washcloth.

Fold over a third of the washcloth onto itself, hiding tag inside; pin and stitch.

Fold in half to form a rough square, with right sides together; stitch short ends.

Turn right side out; hood is finished.

To attach hood to towel, first lay out towel on table with tag on underside in bottom right corner, as shown.

Mark center of top edge of towel with a straight pin.

With right sides together, and curving towel to fit hood, pin stitched/seamed edge of hood to towel. Stitch.

Done.

That’s it!

Now how easy is that?! (I have two left thumbs and am NOT gifted in sewing, so if I can do this, anyone can .)(Although I can’t begin to remember how many times I’ve had to rip out seams when I’ve stitched the hood inside-out or stitched the wrong side of the hood to the towel, arghh.)
