Game 1: Tarp Golf. All team members had to get four tennis balls into four different holes on the tarp. Teams competed separately, and there was a two minute time limit. This was challenging for some, pretty easy for others. Fun for all!
Game 2: Acid River. Entire team had to cross the bridge; all team members had to be on the bridge at one time before the first person left the bridge. There was again a two minute time limit per team. This was pretty challenging; I can’t remember if any team did it perfectly. Several teams had all members on the board, so some started leaving the bridge, when some yet on the bridge fell off. We had those remaining members start over.
Game 3: Strap Walk. One team member walked across the strap, using the rope held by two team members to balance. The team members on the ground had to be on the same side of the strap. Again, there was a two minute time limit. This one was interesting. One of the kids practically flew across the strap in a whopping 13 seconds, while most of the others took much longer. Still can’t figure out how Garrett got across so quick. I think he had wings on his shoes!
Game 4: Javelin Throw. Entire team threw the board as far across line as they could. Farthest throw won the event.
Up to this point, each team or team member competed individually and were timed. For the rest of the games, the whole team worked together, racing the other teams.
Game 5: Duct Tape Egg Roll. For this game, each team worked together to create a ramp from newspaper and duct tape. To win, the egg had to roll to the ground from the table without cracking.
Game 6: Rudolf. For this game, I had cut off the toes of 5 pairs of (cheap!) nylons. A ziploc bag held the nylons and fifteen balloons. The entire team had to blow up the balloons and stuff them into the nylons to create antlers. All teams competed at once, and the first one done won.
Game 7: Ice Melt. Taking turns, all team members melted a chunk of ice.
Game 8: Trivia. Using a set of trivia questions ranging from math to science to construction to geography and all points in between, each team had 20 seconds to answer their question. If they missed it, it went to a second team (first hand raised) who then had to answer correctly. There was no penalty for the first team if they missed, but if the second team answered incorrectly, they forfeited a point. Fast paced and fun!
I manned the scoresheet, and when all games were finished, all scores were added up to determine a winner. Winning team won $10 per team member; second place won $5.
In my mind, I hope everyone left a winner because they had a good time!
