July 2026

July 2026
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

More Life Last Week

 Busy Wednesday - - -

I only took this one px!

Thankfully, girls did a much better job of photo-journaling than me. Not sure who sent me what, but here's a few more peeks of the day -

And that's an awful lot of cute peeks, isn't it?!

Last combine ride of the season for Josh.

Special guest for supper, then everyone else eventually came over to meet her too - but I got no px! How lame is that??!!
And clearly I even had my camera out... and clearly my brain was not engaged๐Ÿ˜’
Guess you'll just have to stay tuned ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ’— this

This little crew was here awhile on Thursday evening.
Of course the Pine Tree House is always an attraction.

As is Grandpa ๐Ÿ˜

Josh snapped this Friday when I took him to mow at Jesse's.
๐Ÿ˜

Older kids were all at tyg that evening then, and Jesse's came for supper. Nice night for a walk.

Rainy Saturday afternoon jobs.

And that's it for Life Last Week.

Life Last Week

I like my nice barn and its residents.

Beautiful Monday evening.

Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth,

and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all;

and the host of heaven worshippeth thee
Nehemiah 9:6

I can't remember why these two adorable kids were here. That was far too long ago. But man they're precious.

Much of life lately is consumed with apples. I like them a lot.

Sarah brought her crew over to meet Diamond and Skeet. Good times.

These two were intrigued by Brandi chewing on a corn cob.

Kaitlyn and Katelyn.

Bean harvesting after supper.

Nice night for a fire.

that's it

One Thing At A Time

So my basement kitchen table collects a lot of stuff. It's a nice place to send things that I don't want cluttering up my upstairs kitchen, y'know?
Canning rings drying, tomatoes and apples waiting to be processed, kettles and canners and boxes and tubs and groceries and cooling jars and... stuff. Every few days I tackle this table, and it seems like a big job. Because it just looks like a big mess. Kind of overwhelming sometimes to come downstairs, turn the corner and find this:

Or this:

But.

I've learned that the best way to tackle this job is the same way to tackle any big job:
One Thing At A Time.

That's it.

Focus on one thing, and put it away.
Then focus on another thing, and put it away.
Then focus on another thing, and put it away.
Then focus on another thing, and put it away.
Don't look at the big pile; don't look at everything at once. Just look at one thing and get 'er done.

And a few short minutes later - - -

DONE!
