10-29-12 Bricks

K’nex were out for about a week until everybody got tired of them.

Josh is always impressed by Jacob’s ten wheel drive trucks.

Josh likes to follow his little car around on his stomach.

Last Wednesday bricklayers came.

The kids raked a few leaves. I can’t remember the last time we have had enough leaves to make a nice pile with. They usually all blow away.

The bricklayers moved to the back yard and worked on the chimney which is right outside  the girls’ bedroom.

Watching Troy wash the old bricks off with acid of some sort.

Boss and Spanky love hangin’ out in the closet.

Repairing the chimney.

Helping Tori play the piano.

The kids had to haul away all of the leaves after they were done playing with them.

Nice fan Jesse!!

Electrician Jacob.

Jesse even let Jacob do the wiring for the fans.

We put a little bit more sand in the sand box. The boys did dump it later but until then it was fun shoving it out with shovels.

Cats already found the new brick ledge. We think the old brick and the new brick matched up pretty nice.

Checking mouse traps.

Mom saw some mice several different times so I finally set some mouse  traps. I’ve caught three so far. We figured we had one mouse and we would quick catch it but I keep catching them!

10-6-12 Life…

…continues to fly by, and oh how busy it is…

busy yes…

but busy good…

busy and oh so blessed…

Daddy’s stories are the best.

So fun to play dress-up.

Cold + rain = puzzlemania.

Tile came yesterday.

Yesterday Kevin came by for an hour or so to lay bathroom floor tile.

More inside fun.

Siding is here too…

And today Kevin was back to do a huge chunk of kitchen floor tiling.

It looks great!

Kevin thought he & Jesse would finish up Monday…

then we’re ready for carpenters to trim before carpet is installed…

and when Dad & Jacob picked up the tile yesterday, they saw a roll of carpet that was labeled “Kaiser”…

which means that maybe…

just maybe…

it is ours…

??!

8-15-12 Deer Drive

First some px. Sarah found a fun place to read.

Four-wheeler rides are the best! (Although you wouldn’t know it by our faces)

The cows will be calving in the next month or so.

Note the dry pasture? We need rain and we need it bad.

Sunday night we went on a deer drive after supper. We usually do 1 or 2 drives a summer but we’ve been so busy this summer it just hasn’t happened. So Sunday evening we drove around for awhile and ended up at Culvers in Pekin for ice cream. We get out to the van afterwards and it’s locked. Well, okay, Dad’s still in Culvers, and when he comes out with the keys we’ll load up. Dad comes out and guess what? He doesn’t have the keys. Katie climbs up on the windshield and there sit the keys in the cup holder. Great. We called up Aunt Sarah and she drove to our house, got Dad’s keys out of his car and brought them to us. (Thank you Aunt Sarah!!!!!!)  It was actually a lot of fun. Dad was having trouble seeing the humor in our situation, and stated, “We could be here till midnight, all because someone locked the car!” and his exaggeration made it even funnier. We all tried to tell him, “This is one of those times you’re never going to forget, and we’re going to laugh about this for years,” but he still failed to see the humor in it all.

Oh, and we saw some deer too! These 2 ran across ahead of us and then waited for their buddy on the other side. We also saw a litter of half grown raccoons and 2 wild turkeys. 

All said and done, it was the best deer drive ever.
