July 2026
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

12-23-11 Fun Friday…

…because Dad was home all day! Lots of outside jobs to do, lots of inside jobs to do, and I’m happy to report that we got most of the things on the lists done. We were all glad when ASK stopped by for a little while with a will to work – ASK your help and energy is greatly appreciated! Thank you! And oh. . . it was NIIIIICCCCEEE to see the sun again! But I didn’t have time to get a walk, so no px. But it was beautiful!  Levi re-twisted his ankle yesterday and so was hobbling around kind of pathetic-like for awhile; thankfully it looks nothing like it did last time, and he says it’s not nearly as painful either. Hopefully it will mend quickly. . . IF he takes care of it, that is.

After supper Dad & I took a trip to Peoria to bring home Grandpa Steiner, who had flunked (majorly) his stress test yesterday, which landed him in Methodist today for not one but TWO stents. Blockages were 90% and 80%; one was in his RCA which is NOT a good thing. Thankfully the routine tests did just what they were supposed to do – catch a problem so it can be fixed, which it was, and we had Grandpa home again by 8:00, feeling spry and fine like usual (except for his one ankle which has been a problem lately and which is getting attention too…). How blessed we are to have such good healthcare.

A few px left from the week -
