First – a few of our dozen or so Fourth of July peaches. Yeah, that’s really what they’re called – they were ripe the end of June - and wow did we enjoy them. Glad we have two trees of them and really look forward to when the trees get bigger!

After our productive baking day (which started out rainy but ended up sunny and gorgeous), the older kids went with TYG to sort clothes at the Goodfield Distribution Center. Some of us ended up at the pond for a little while,
which ended up being pretty productive also. These two little fishes got thrown back,
but this big guy went into the livewell.

On Monday, Independence Day, we took a staycation trip to Peoria. Our day started out with Breakfast Haystacks, one of the best breakfasts ever invented.
Not sure if the cloudy picture is from smoke but it certainly could be 
Sausage gravy, biscuits, fried potatoes, scrambled eggs with cheese, and bacon.
Mmmmmmmmmm. So good.
Next we headed to Tower Park in Peoria Heights. We’ve been there several times and have always enjoyed a trip up the tower. This is the first time we had ever seen the fountain dyed blue. Interesting!
The day was cloudy/cool but look at the squinting – still plenty of sunshine.

Next – to Forest Park Nature Center, also in Peoria Heights.
Great day for a hike, relatively cool, but it seemed to get more humid as the day wore on . . . or maybe we were working up a sweat . . .
Last stop was an interesting tour of BU. Nice to see where Jesse spent so much of his time this past year.
Back home for chores, and then Ryan joined us for pizza and shenanigans at the pond.

And that pretty much sums up the week so far. Yesterday was a chase day followed by lunch at a friend’s house, and today was a really productive baking day. Which is why I’m thinking it’s time for a walk now that it’s a little cooler out!
