8-14-15 Kaiser Weekend 2015
Many thanks to Grandpa & Grandma and U. Mark & A. Renee for all their efforts in hosting our annual Kaiser Weekend. We had a great time as usual, making lots of memories and enjoying catching up with everyone. I’m going to put a few names because, as fast as these little tykes grow up, I won’t remember a few years from now who is who!

Here come the boats!
Lots of help needed for this one 
Once again A. Joyce did a phenomenal job with the Amazing Race. Kids had a blast. All teams took their clipboards and did the six events (in any order); first team done with all events won.
Event One: Stack ice cream buckets on top of tote without touching either buckets or tote. Use scarves and rubber band to move buckets. Challenging!
Event Two: Fill wheelbarrow with moss from pond, dump moss at designated spot.
Event Three: Collect two cloth strips from tree.
Event Four: Put a 100 piece floor puzzle together.
Event Five: Some crazy multiplication problem, like 5-digits x 5 digits. No calculator, of course!
Event Six: Chop four pieces of firewood; stack against the house.
While cousins did the race, grandparents happily watched grandkids, including Beau,
Wesley, and Landry;
while Sarah took Ruby to see the goats.

Wonderful Grandpa & Grandma!
Boat crews were given a little more time to perfect their watercraft. Work was intense. Competition was fierce. Pressure was building. Anticipation was high as each team furiously strove for perfection.
All too soon, time was up.
On to the races!
The Torpedo, manned by Kate, Creighton, & Lincoln for the 12-and-under race. The excitement and enthusiasm of these energetic kids earned them the Team Spirit Award.
Though it looks like the Torpedo is ahead of the USSK, don’t be deceived. The Torpedo was disqualified from the 12-and-over race because her crew used illegal means to win. Well, to be fair, she was taking on water like a sieve. U. Jerry looks a little desperate there, doesn’t he? And desperate men do desperate things.
Pride of the Regatta award went to the Hercules. This mighty boat carried a whopping eight passengers for the race, but for the picture afterwards Beau made the ninth passenger!!
Jesse & Jacob’s boat, the USSK, won all its races which earned it the Fastest Boat Award.
Samuel & Kinsey’s beauty, the USA, with its flags, matching paddles, and matching crew member t-shirts, won the Vogue Award.
The winner of the Titanic Award was unquestionably Lance, Morgan, and Travis’s craft, the Little Moses.
That was the end of the organized games for awhile; and so the next part of the beautiful afternoon was spent slippin’ & slidin’,
bouncin’ & bumpin’,
and talkin’& talkin’,
and more talkin’.
U. Don did a brave trial run of a kayak, in training for the kayak races to follow.
Thankfully, everyone else demonstrated more skill than he did.
Spectators enjoyed the spectacle.
After a delicious supper, A. Renee emceed a very fun game of Kaiser Trivia. We learned a lot, laughed a lot, and loved being a part of such a big blessed bunch. Who knew how long U. Don used a cane after his bike accident? Which accident? He had some doozies, that’s for sure! How did Tori know what kind of dog Kate Rassi would get if she could have any kind she wanted? Who knew who U. Jerry’s first full-time employee was? And I don’t know if we ever did figure out how many rooms U. Randy’s house has. How much did A. Joyce charge for a 7# bag of compost? Where was Lucas for the summer, and what is Grace’s favorite swim stroke? Who burned his hand on a hot motor and had to sleep with his hand in a bucket of ice water? Since Tim & Ruth got married, how many different pianos have been in their basement? When did a tornado destroy Kevin & Jolynn’s home? And how in the world did Jewel know how Grandpa’s potatoes were ruined when they were in the back yard drying?! Well if you’re not a Kaiser, you probably don’t even care about such…well, trivial matters… but you see, we ARE all Kaisers, and so we DO care, and so we did have a wonderful time!
Awww. Creighton obviously didn’t find the trivia that intriguing, and Morgan obviously enjoyed her job holding him.
Thanks U. Mark & A. Renee for putting the trivia game together. I think it was our kids’ favorite part of the weekend – all the way down to Jewel!

Thanks again Grandpa & Grandma for a wonderful reunion! Thanks again U. Marks for hosting! And thanks again JJK for helping! We appreciate ALL of your many efforts to make such a special weekend. And I forgot to mention that the weather was perfect. Not a three-digit heat index like some years, which we did NOT miss. So, most of all, thanks to our great and awesome God Who gave us this wonderful family as well as beautiful weather so we could fully enjoy our time together.

Dad – Visiting.

Kate – Trivia was best by far.

How long did U. Don use a cane after his bike accident? Well he said two months but Grandma contested that. So I’m still not really sure.
What kind of dog would Kate Rassi get if she could have any kind? Chocolate Lab.
Who was U. Jerry’s first full-time employee? Doug Frank.
And I don’t know if we ever did figure out how many rooms U. Randy’s house has. Official answer was ten, but there was debate about that one too. A. Marj’s email later said eleven. Guess she forgot one.
