This is from the Open House/Recital back on May 28. Jesse didn't want me to post this because it doesn't sound as good as Andy (Andy is an award-winning professional). Keep in mind that Jesse's first banjo lesson was Wednesday, April 20. So I think he's doing great, and I'm going to post it ANYWAY.

Today was the hottest day of the year so far, and a perfect day for the second annual Kaiser/Koch Boys Mackinaw River Float. Ben got to go too this time, and it sounds like they all had fun. We girls went to Uncle Jerry’s pool instead and had a good time there too.
After a hard morning’s work of butchering chickens (done for the year, yay), everyone appreciated the relaxing afternoon. We came home from Uncle Jerry’s to find this rabbit hutch that some friends wanted to get rid of – or should I say rabbit mansion? It’s really nice, and we hope Hoppy is happy in his new home.
And Hoppy was out during butchering but wasn’t to be found when the River Float was done! Oh no!! Here we have the nicest rabbit hutch (mansion) we’ve ever seen, and our dumb rabbit is AWOL!!! What to do??!! Well after supper, Jesse looked and looked and looked again, and lo and behold there was Hoppy under an evergreen, most likely where he’d been all day (that’s where I’d be when the heat index is 101 and I had to wear a fur coat).

First Ever yellow zucchini from the garden! Can hardly wait to cook some up.
After supper Dad made us milkshakes for dessert. YYUUUMMMMM. Opinion poll showed that Dad’s milkshakes are better than both McDonald’s AND Wendy’s!!
Yep, when it’s hot we keep cool. Redneck cool.
We decided around 11:00 to go to the creek, and Josh could hardly stand it that we weren’t leaving RIGHT NOW. He went to the bench where the swim stuff is kept and started hauling out the creek towels (as opposed to the pool towels) and his and Ben’s creek cutoffs (as opposed to pool suits). He was so cute wanting to help everyone get ready!
Today the new activity was making channels in the clay bank for the spring water to flow through.
I don’t know what Jacob used to make this tiny “tile” for the water to come from, but it was pretty neat.

“Haitie” is Josh’s favorite, and the feeling seems to be mutual.
Who knew a chair could be so much fun?
Jewel was collecting sticks for the sandcastle we were building, and Josh wanted to help; he searched diligently to find a stick too!!
