Another morning of Jewel coughing herself awake. No runny nose, no daytime cough (or nighttime cough either, for that matter), and she’s happy as a meadowlark…so don’t know what the deal is.
We were to church early to help Uncle Mike and Aunt Janet give dinner. It’s always a fun time to work together with family; this time was no exception – except halfway through the morning Joshua started having these goopy kitten eyes. Don’t know where it came from, but he obviously picked up something and was pretty fussy most of the day. Between helping in the kitchen and caring for a sad tired little boy, I couldn’t listen as well as I like to. There is one nugget I will remember; in the afternoon, Steve spoke on Proverbs 7:9 where it says, “He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends." He challenged us to consider why we don’t repeat such things as so-and-so who won such-and-such scholarship, but we’re too quick maybe to pass on when somebody’s son is arrested for DUI, etc. I have to admit I’m guilty of that and know my Lord will be pleased if I purpose to do better at not repeating such matters.
After church Joshua took a much needed nap, Levi went fishing AGAIN, and the rest of the crew enjoyed the beautiful day outside while Dad and I took a walk. Then I took a much needed nap while Dad and the crew compiled the list of things we needed for a picnic at the Pekin Park with Nate and Sandi’s family. We had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful evening.
Waiting for the Kochs.
KFC is always a treat.
Boys.
Littler boys.
A walk around the lagoon.
A bunch of older men were sailing these boats. Really neat…the boats had no motor; they were only moved by the wind. The men were simply moving the sails to catch the wind.
Cute duck family.
Joshua was NOT a happy camper. He couldn’t understand why he couldn’t get in the water, just like at Uncle Jerry’s pool, you know? Every time Dad would let him down, he made a bee line straight for the water. So back up on Dad’s shoulders he would go!
Paddle boats were abundant; but there was only one paddle dragon boat.
3 sweet girls.
Playground for little ones awhile (older crowd was playing hot box, I think).
Then we found an empty ball field and had an invigorating game of Kaisers vs. Kochs. I’m not even sure who won – because it didn’t matter. We all were playing, having lots of fun, making many precious memories, and so we all won. And look at that blue blue sky…it was just a beautiful beautiful day.
More game shots.
And of course some spectators (who seemed to have a good time when they weren’t in the outfield).
Home to beds around 9:00…
Thank you Lord for the wonderful blessings of friends…and family…fellowship…fun…faith… so much joy, such deep peace to life, and only because of thy love for us, and the promise of life eternal through thy shed blood.
Because He Lives
God sent His Son – they called Him Jesus, He came to love, heal, and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon, An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.
How sweet to hold a newborn baby And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance: This child can face uncertain days because He lives.
And then one day I’ll cross the river, I’ll fight life’s final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict’ry, I’ll see the lights of glory and – I’ll know He lives.
Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living – just because He lives.
