March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

10-20-10 Welcome Winter

Well, no, it’s technically not winter for a long time yet, but Joshua woke up with a cold this morning, and that tends to define winter sometimes. He was pretty happy most of the day anyway; hopefully he’ll get over it quickly AND not share it with others.

Normal Wednesday which means Levi & Jesse didn’t milk. Levi worked at Precision all day, and Jesse studied and worked for Uncle Randy some also. Nothing else noteworthy except the dryer is broke and the repairman isn’t coming until next Wednesday. Guess we’ll be needing a few more clothespins. No church tonight (Emma Aberle funeral Friday), but we probably wouldn’t have gone anyway with Joshua having a bad nose and fever.

Remember the days of Swatches, when everyone (well, some people did anyway – I never even had one) wore about 5 of those coveted Swiss watches? Jewel’s leading the comeback.

More chore training for Joshua.

It’s hard to tell, but Jacob was standing up reading – he got up to do something but was so immersed he forgot what he got up to do. This phenomenon is more and more common around here (him reading a book), but it still gives me a smile every time. I think I can say that Jacob really enjoys reading, and there was a time when I didn’t think that would ever happen.

That’s it.
