March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

10-5-10 Tuesday

Another routine school day; this one was beautiful, sunny, cool but warm in the sun. A perfect fall day. Boys milked twice and were here doing school in between. What a nice change, to have all 9 kids here awhile. Aunt Sarah came for lunch, read to the kids, and took a wonderful walk with me too. Choretime, nap for Joshua, playtime for kids. Dad was late coming home, so we were just ready to start without him when Grandpa Steiner came to get Jesse for a driving session (he needs a few more night hours before he can get his license). Well, Levi and Jesse weren’t home yet, so Grandpa ate supper with us while he waited. L & J got here just before Dad did, and Jesse grabbed a bbq sandwich before he left with Grandpa. Dad ate a fast supper, then he and I walked while the kids did k.p., baths, and showers. Home again for Bibletime and some funtime, then beds for all. Jesse got home around 9:30, with 2.5 more hours of driving to add to his record; he drove to Uncle Dave’s and enjoyed a brief visit there before driving home again.

A few pictures of today:

That’s all; good night.
