March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

10-12-10 Tuesday

Another routine day, same as yesterday except boys milked in the afternoon too. Not quite as warm, but still a beautiful day, with kids outside a lot. School, tutoring, lunch, more tutoring and a piano lesson, nap for Joshua, walk for me, chores for all, read to 5, supper prep, supper (boys were home in time to eat with us!), walk for Dad and me, soccer for all but me and the 2 littles, baths/showers for all, Bibletime, and beds. Blink, day over, done, and a very good day it was; thank you Lord for your blessings on me.

Jacob.

A new look :)

During soccer Jewel was busy cutting overripe vegetables into a yummy (?) stew.

Of course we’re a little (lot) prejudiced, but we all think Joshua’s the cutest little guy ever in his white t-shirt, blue jeans, and little boots like Daddy and the big boys wear.  Oh how we love you, little tiger!

I’m not quite sure why, but soccer is the rage around here lately. We’re quite lacking in equipment (See the shoes? Those are the goal markers.), pretty weak on the rules, extremely weak in skill, but very strong in fun and laughs – and it’s great exercise for all involved (not that most of us need the exercise, but some of us certainly do). As I played with Jewel and Joshua, I tried a few pictures using manual settings and was impressed with the pictures I got, considering how dark it was. I’m a little baffled about all the dots – are they spots on the lens that don’t show up during daylight?  I hardly think so because they’re not always in the same place. (??) I’ve a lot to learn.
