March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

10-27-11 Noodles

by Tori

It’s been another slow week here again. Restmor singing was on Tuesday, but other than that we haven’t been anywhere. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were cold and sometimes rainy  so we got out the Farming Game yesterday afternoon. I’d forgotten how fun it is to play. We also made noodles again yesterday and for some reason it didn’t take near as long as it did the first time.

Last night we also went to church and when we got home the noodle machines were sitting on the cupboard. Jacob found a m&m wrapper and it went through the cutter part of the machine. So just for the record, a noodle machine can take a m&m wrapper and shred it up real nice.

10-26-11 Chores

by Ben

My chores are to give the chickens water, sweep out the garage, take out trash, and sweep the blue rugs.  I like to take out the trash the best because it’s the easiest.  Sweeping the blue rugs is the worst because it takes so long.

10-24-11 Last Night

by Sarah

We went to the Fellowship Hall last night.  We sang some songs.  Then we had a snack.  Then we went to the play room.  We had so much fun. It was great.

10-23-11 Tori’s Baptism

To God be the glory - - great things He hath done.

So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,

Who yielded His life an atonement for sin

And opened the Lifegate that all may go in.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the earth hear His voice!

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the people rejoice!

O come to the Father through Jesus the Son,

And give Him the glory - - great things He hath done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,

To every believer the promise of God;

The vilest offender who truly believes,

Will surely from Jesus a pardon receive.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the earth hear His voice!

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the people rejoice!

O come to the Father through Jesus the Son,

And give Him the glory - - great things He hath done.

Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,

And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;

But purer and higher and greater will be

Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the earth hear His voice!

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the people rejoice!

O come to the Father through Jesus the Son,

And give Him the glory - - great things He hath done.

Praise God for a wonderful weekend, and I sit here and sit here and don’t know what else to write.

When words fail, music speaks.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the earth hear His voice!

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

Let the people rejoice!

O come to the Father through Jesus the Son,

And give Him the glory - - great things He hath done.

10-22-11 Saturday Report

by Kaitlyn

Saturday afternoon we all went across the road and cut down a tree for Dad’s cousin. Then there was a tree down in a ditch that he wanted us to pull out with Grandpa’s tractor. We had to chop it into a few pieces because it was so big. But we got ‘er out!! Mom and the little kids also came over. So Mom took a bunch of pictures!

Here are the pictures of them trying to pull the one out of the ditch.
