March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

10-3-11 Ted’s Bike Ride

by Ben

One Saturday afternoon Ted and his friends Fred, Ed, and Ned went to Yellowstone State Park for a bike ride. Ted did not know that the brakes didn’t work on his bike! So when there was a river at the bottom of a hill the trail curved to go next to the river and you had to slow down going around the curve but Ted did not have brakes so he flew down the hill right into the river! Ted’s friends jumped into the river to get him. The current was very strong. It began to carry them away but there was a big rock in the water. All four kids got on the rock. “That was really close,” Ed said. “I know,” Ned said. “Next time I will make sure the brakes work,” Ted said. Fred had a waterproof cell phone so he called Ted’s Mom and Dad and soon they were back with a very long board and put it out into the middle of the river and put it on the rock. The four kids walked across the board and onto land. On the way home the kids told all about their adventure.

The End.
