March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Third Week of April

Monday April 18. Fire is still smoldering but temporary fence keeps cows out of the field.

Tuesday April 19. Finally, a tractor in a field! Rare sight up to this point.

Always time for a ride.

Far far across the field are Diamond and Jewel.

Some serious studying going on here.

View of the hedgerow from the house. It looks quite different.

Dad & Josh finished cleaning up the mess Monday evening - on Tuesday all fires were finally out and tree was gone. Temporary fence installed.

Dad & Josh hauled these monstrous logs home from Dave's lake. Think we have enough wood?

Wednesday April 20. Special visitors.

Thursday April 21. Josh put up the barbed wire for Dad. He did a great job.

Kinsey came to ride,

and stuck around a little while for a rare nice evening.

Friday April 22. A few kids came for pizza then we enjoyed a beautiful sunset while we walked to the lake.

I call this Josh On Dam.

Saturday April 23. Beautiful sunrise.

Idr what all happened that day but one project was moving this pigeon-coop-turned-rink-shack-turned-junk-shack.

'Twas nice to say good-by to ye ol' water tank. It is enjoying its new home at Levi's where it will be put to good use.

That evening the older kids were gone so we did a CIT run to grab some scrap lumber. I wasn't too sure about this Josh driving thing but he did ok. ONLY on our road for a few minutes which was plenty long enough.

Then Brandi thought she needed a lap. Funny dog. Also she's looking rather pudgy...

Our trip continued to Tori's to pick up some leftover logs from a spiky ball tree she had taken down. Good thing, bc we're short on wood, right?

Idt Josh ever met a tree he didn't want to climb.

Not to be outdone...

All good bc no broken bones, ha.

And that's about it for the third week of April.
