March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

12-31-12 Christmas Break

by Tori

We have been on Christmas break this week; Dad came home from work at noon Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and has been working with the boys on the new basement bedroom. Levi hasn’t been working second shift at Precision either so he’s home by 3:00 every day. At home we’ve been doing a few winter projects and a lot of ice-skating.

Uncle Jeff’s left Wednesday morning around 7:30, and we spent the rest of the morning getting everybody up and going (that took till at least 9:30) and cleaning up. Then we skated on the rink all afternoon.

Thursday and Friday we caught up on some sewing projects, cooked pumpkins, cleaned, and skated. Friday Jim & Rachel and Tim & Jenny came for supper and skating. We skated a while and then played hockey.

Saturday was windy and cold. We skated in the afternoon but didn’t last more than an hour. After supper Tim, Nic, Ben, and Andy came and played hockey with the boys.

Sunday was really warm. We skated after church for an hour but the ice was too slushy and chipping apart. After the sun went down it froze right back up and was perfect for skating with the Kochs. Chuck, Andrew, and Angie played hockey with us till 9:00, then we all came in and and visited for the rest of evening.

A few pictures. The little kids weren’t up when Uncle Jeff’s left so they got picture hugs.

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
