March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

8-9-10 Recovery Day

Another bad night with Joshua; his cold kept him up this time, I guess. Too many short nights got to me, plus the awful heat and humidity; I woke up with a horrible headache and never really kicked it all day. At times it was worse than others, but it was always there to some extent. But we got some things done anyway, so the day wasn’t a total waste. Tori, Jacob, Kate, and Ben all got started on their math for the school year, and I got some other things done for school too. Levi and Jesse milked twice, and Levi went to CIT in between. The kids picked up 4 bushels of apples off the ground in the orchard, and I sorted them plus 2 other bushels that we picked up last Friday. Looks like we’ll have another 2 bushels of apples to do tomorrow. They also picked tomatoes and cucumbers, not a lot but it still needed to be done. In the early afternoon, Dad and I went to look at a 15 passenger van that we had seen on the way home from St. Louis. We aren’t really in the market yet, but we’re kind of looking around to see what’s out there for when we are seriously looking. Home to naps, and I slept awhile too – woke up feeling better, but the headache returned as soon as I got up. Chores, supper prep, supper, early Bibletime, and I went to bed early, hoping for a better Tuesday.

A few pictures.
