March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

8-6-10 KWA

To Walmart with Sarah, Jewel, and Joshua this morning; Aunt Sarah went with us. Mostly we were stocking up for our trip to St. Louis with the Kaisers. Levi and Jesse milked, and the rest of the crew worked on jobs at home, especially packing. Dad got home around noon, and we were on the road by 1:00 just like we planned. After a pretty routine trip, we got to the Doubletree around 4:00 and had about an hour to swim until supper. It was good to see everyone (except Brett and Tessa who weren’t here yet and Mike and Carmen who stayed home to (hopefully) have a baby) although I didn’t get to do much visiting. After supper the kids went swimming again, and I was planning to take Joshua too; but he was so tired I decided to put him to bed instead. It was a good thing too, because Dad no sooner had the kids out the door when I realized he had fever. I gave him Tylenol, and rocked him awhile until he fell asleep. Levi and Jesse later went to the athletic club to play basketball with some cousins and Aunt Joyce, and the rest had a snack and watched a dvd until everyone got too tired.

A few pictures.

Jacob was pretty pleased that he found a perfectly sized box for his Bible.
