Levi and Jesse milked like normal, Dad went in to work like normal, and that was the end of normal. The other seven children and I went to Dr. Flanigan for four 9:15 appointments and four 10:00 appointments. We all had good teeth except Jacob has a back molar which has already had decay once and a filling; the filling came out and a fourth of the tooth was chipped off – he can’t even brush it because it’s not even all the way in yet. Dr. says he must’ve had some high fever as an infant which adversely affected its formation. So anyway, he’ll have to have that re-filled soon.
Levi and Jesse got there in time (from milking) for their 10:00 appointments; we were all done and ready to go by 10:30. Levi took all the kids home except Jesse, who went with me to do some errands (including getting him shoes which is why he had to go). Our last stop was LaGondola for our usual after-dentist lunch (expensive so it’s the only time we do it).
We ate right when we got home, then the boys worked on a list for Dad. I think they got it all done except stakes which never ends.
We girls packed for our weekend trip, did laundry, and got things ship shape before we left. Dad came home from work early and headed out to check on list jobs; he checked the bees then paid bills. He does it all! Meanwhile, Levi went to Precision at 1:00, and by mid-afternoon the littler ones were kind of stir-crazy. We didn’t want to make huge messes because we were leaving soon, and they were too excited to stick with anything for very long. So it was a blessing when Aunt Joyce came to read for awhile…
…and then took a walk with me.
Levi got home from Precision right on time, and we were loaded and on our way pretty quickly. Since Joshua wouldn’t settle down for a nap, I had left him up, thinking he would sleep in the van…which he did right away. What a precious punkin’.
The trip north was pretty uneventful – highlights were a train (we’re easily impressed)…
and a gorgeous sunset which we (well, I did, anyway) enjoyed for a long time. It was a beautiful evening.
We got to Dan and Anne's around 8:30 and spent some time admiring the boat they are BUILDING!!! That is just amazing to me, but it’s true – this very talented family is building a boat…and here it is (I didn’t take the big picture; it was on Anne’s camera and she let me copy it).
Isn’t it fascinating? They hope to have it done this summer – maybe on our next visit we’ll get a ride. Wouldn’t that be something?
It was too dark for many pictures, but I did get a couple of good ones – here’s Nathan. He had a light on his hat that was pretty neat (and very bright) – the pics of it didn’t turn out though.
Here’s Alyssa with Franklin the cat.
And the 3 littlest girls warmed up quickly – and noisily I might add – and had fun from the start.
Eventually everybody headed inside for a snack, and gradually everyone settled to beds, except for our Joshua who wanted nothing but his bed. He was one of the last asleep; I don’t even know how late it was. Finally he fell asleep while I rocked him; then I crashed too.
