March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

4-6-10 Beautiful Day

Boys milked. Jolynn brought Drew around 8:00. Jewel found her sunglasses…she was ready for sunshine today.

Another beautiful day.

Today was a routine day, just how we like it. After our (short) cleaning job, everyone was motivated to get school done and get outside…wow, it was beautiful. Levi and Jesse got home, ate, and dug into studying; I did all school meetings and gave Kate her piano lesson. Everyone headed outside as their school and jobs were done, and lunch was pbjs outside too. Jacob did some roto-tilling and also sowed some grass seed, and Dad came home to check on Jacob’s progress just after Karol pulled in for a walk. We took Drew in the stroller; he really liked it and fell asleep halfway through. I took him in to bed then we finished our 2 miles. I read to Ben, Sarah, and Jewel for awhile on the swing after putting Joshua down for a nap, and then administrated emails, appointments, bills, etc…. a never-ending job. Jewel helped out with Drew for awhile…yes, that looks like Joshua but it’s not; it’s Drew!

Jolynn got Drew around 4:30 or so; right around snack time and then chore time.

Supper was Tori and younger and me. Joshua liked the pan of bars that Tori made for dessert... at least he liked the m’n’ms!

Dad ran to Mackinaw to pick up new bees and queens, then he and Jesse put them into the hives. It went well; the bees looked some better than last year. Jesse and Dad ate later; then Dad and I walked. Routine evening…baths, Bibletime, beds.

Levi got home around 9:30; after catching up awhile, he and Jesse headed to bed.

Now my turn…I’ve been tired today and am ready for bed.

I don't know why I can't move my videos anymore but here is Drew's first recital anyway.
