March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

4-15-10 Thursday

Another beautiful summer day in April. Gotta love it. Dad went to Uncle Jerry’s shop early, and took Jesse to Uncle Randy’s before work. Levi did geometry in the morning then went to Precision by 11:00 or so. Here’s a novel way to watch a math video.

Another exciting find…

…which will join several of its relatives in the tank for the summer.

Grandpa Kaiser brought Jesse home when Uncle Randy came back here to plant corn around noon.

Jesse alternately studied and helped Uncle Randy load the planter. For the rest of us, our morning was school, make bread (Tori), tutor kids (me), and other odds & ends. After yet another lunch outside, I went to Karol’s for a walk there. Got home, played with Joshua for a little while, put him down for a nap, took a catnap myself, then read to kids outside for awhile. Chores for kids, while I administrated. You know, emails, phone calls, make lists, check them twice, and so on. Snack and chores; supper prep and Aunt Joyce came to read. Rascal is pretty funny around Samson…she just watches Samson sooo close. Aunt Joyce thinks that Rascal really doesn’t trust Samson yet and is doing her protective duty…at any rate it’s pretty cute.

Kids love storytime with Aunt Joyce!

Grandma Kaiser brought Grandpa’s car out and was here for a few minutes before catching a ride home with Joyce. After supper, then, a cattle buyer picked up 4 dairy steers.

Kaitlyn took this pic of Uncle Randy planting… what a gorgeous sunset. We think it looks like something you’d see in Country magazine.

And I took this one a little later…it was just such a beautiful evening.

More beauty… in our very own backyard…

Another view of apple blossoms.

Jesse pulled Jacob around on this go-cart. I heard them planning to pull it through the creek. Whatever.
