To me this week seems to have dragged by. For some reason I was a day ahead for a couple days so on Tuesday I thought it was Wednesday, Wednesday seemed like Thursday, yesterday should have been Friday, and today, well, it finally is Friday.
Tuesday we started putting water into our ice rink. Yeah, if anybody didn’t already know, Jesse and Jacob built an ice skating rink in our backyard. They are using a neighbor’s 1000 gallon water trailer and our 300 gallon tank to haul water to the rink. We also emptied our 1500 gallon tank beside the barn into it. The whole process took 3 afternoons and 14000 gallons of water, but now it’s full. The garden is on a slant so one end has about 14 inches in it, and the other has between 3 and 4 inches. Now we wait for cold weather.
Wednesday I had an dentist appointment in Pekin so Mom and I went to Aldi’s first. Thursday Mom and Levi ran to Peoria for a routine checkup with Levi’s cardiologist. They had to wait quite a while to see the doctor and didn’t get home till after 5:00. Everything checked out fine.
Last night Dad, Jesse, and Jacob took out the old countertops and sink. After the countertops were out, we cleaned all the cupboards good, inside and out. The new countertops are supposed to be installed this afternoon, and, as soon as the counters are in, Tim R. is coming to hook up the new sink.
This morning has been a mix of school, cooking, and cleaning. We are cooking upstairs and down. Mom and Kate hauled in one of the smaller old counters and set it on the cupboard so we were able to do some cooking upstairs. All the dirty dishes are going to the basement to be washed as we have no kitchen sink upstairs. I guess it’s not exactly convenient, but it’s certainly livable for a half day.
Getting on to a few pictures.
This is a fairly common scene around here.
Liner in rink.
First water going in on Tuesday afternoon.
The water trailer worked great. It takes about ten minutes to fill and around 6 or 7 to empty.
As it filled we worked the wrinkles out of the liner.
Watching.
Mid-afternoon Wednesday. The boys had already hauled some water, but by the time they quit, the air bubble at the end was completely gone.
We have these two adorable little kittens right now, and they are definitely favorites.
Sarah and Jewel are in the cat room. You probably didn’t guess that, did you?
Always time for some horseback riding.
Making a smoothie.
Removing the old countertops last night.
Josh said, “I don’t like this new kitchen.”
Cleaning last night.
That’s all.
Happy Weekend everyone!
