March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

9-7-12 Catch-up

by Tori

This week has been all catch-up. Labor Day we worked around the house and then had supper with Greggs. We all had fun seeing the place and some of the kids fished. Jacob was the fisherman of the night with about a foot long largemouth bass and a foot and half long catfish. Everyone else just caught big bluegill and sunfish. Tuesday Jacob and Kate both had ortho appointments and Mom did errands. Wednesday was somewhat regular with school and normal stuff, but Thursday Mom had an eye doctor appointment and errands in Morton. Today is just another regular day. We cooked up a big pot of chicken carcasses and are looking forward to chicken noodle soup again. We’ve been digging potatoes every night this week too. Last night we finished them – and it’s a good thing because it rained this morning.

Going to feed the ducks.

The ducks weren’t hungry and didn’t come up to us like they usually do, so we just left the corn on the shore.

Josh really enjoyed his chocolate cupcakes for dessert last night.

Sarah, Jewel, and Josh collected grubs and put them in dirt. Josh must be watching one dig down.

“We’re tired of digging potatoes!”

This morning the sky was so cool looking. It was pretty neat watching the white layer come right at us and then go over. It didn’t look like it was moving at first but as it got closer it picked up speed. Within 2 minutes it was over us and behind it was a wall of storm clouds that appeared to be rolling across the sky like tumbleweeds. The storm brought a cold front and some rain with it too.

Have a good weekend everyone!
