March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

9-17-12 Another Monday

Blink goes the week. Then the weekend. And now Monday is over. Odd as it sounds, it seems life is busier now than when I had two in diapers. I hope it’s just this house project – I don’t want to be this busy forever.

But progress is certain, and each step brings us closer to completion.

Saturday Jesse & Jacob laid underlayment in the new part and patched the old vent holes in the old part.

Girls took off carpet from the doorway which is now open Smile

Dad dismantled the old pocket door in the living room.

And the temporary wall came down!!!!!

P1240616

Of course much cleaning.

P1240617

The plaster must dry for a few days yet, and then it needs to be finished off with a sealant of some sort. So while we haven’t opened it up completely yet, with the temporary walls down it’s a joy to have sun shining in the house again. I missed that!

Saturday was a busy day for littles outside. So much playing to do!

Campfire after supper. A beautiful night.

Kids did a lot of staining too.

And what did I do?  I went through winter clothes and made a nice pile of garments to mend, lengthen, shorten, or alter for the girls. I think we’re ready for winter – or almost ready, anyway.

Sunday morning sunshine was beautiful!!!

Today Pat’s plasterers were here bright and early again; the bedroom is completely done, ready for paint and underlayment. Tomorrow the bathroom will be finished, and then the plasterers are done.
