March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Farewell September

By Sarah

The end of September came around quickly. We enjoyed the beautiful weather while we had it.

Two weeks ago Wednesday, we had Cason and Clay here, and Jovie who Kate is babysitting during harvest.

What a cute little tyke!

Dad wanted a picture of Josh with this vine.

Thursday we had Wyatt and Bristol, and then Echo came over for lunch. I'm not sure what just happened here, but whatever it was, it must have been funny.

After lunch we read some books. Bristol looks happy here, but she was actually still a little grumpy since I got Kiowa to read books with us. Bristol can tend to get a little jealous.

On Saturday harvest started in the 70.

Ben drove the tractor again this year, so we all got to ride with him.

Sunday night, we hosted a Kaiser/Meister get-together. We put all the food in the shed and ate wherever we wanted. It was really really hot out.

We played several rounds of Mafia in the basement.

Some of the boys played music for awhile.

Mom & Dad were on a walk one evening.

Now we’re back around to another Wednesday with Cason and Clay again.

IMG_6034

This is a pretty common sight around here. This is how some of Kate’s “study” time is spent.

Beautiful sunset.

IMG_6041

Friday night the older kids were gone, so Mom and Dad and us four youngers did a campfire.

IMG_6044

It’s hard to see, but we four younger kids are in the field picking up corn.

Grace came over on Saturday afternoon to hang out for awhile.

Sunday night we had Eric and Leann  over. Jake, Ben, Josh, and Wesley soon got into a water fight.

IMG_6058

We girls watched from the “safety” of the trampoline.

Horse rides.

Josh has been working on this K’nex machine for quite awhile.

IMG_6075

Tuesday we went and sang at Restmor, and then some of the singers came back to our house for a picnic.

IMG_6077

Wednesday was another Cason, Clay, and Jovie day. Neither of these two would smile.

Thursday we had Jenna and Suzanne over for lunch, and then we babysat Suzanne's kids in the afternoon while Suzanne and baby went to an appointment.

Saturday night, we went to Uncle Dave and Aunt Sandy’s for a wiener roast. Kiowa really liked Lucy's kitty.

Flint was a happy little cheeseball in the house.

Sunday night there was a crowd at Grandpa and Grandma Kaiser’s. U. Mark’s, U. Mike’s, us, and U. Randy's, who had Tim and Emily's kids, were there. It was a great evening.

So that's the end of September, and so far October has greeted us with beautiful weather. Hope it holds up.
