Until then - - -
Enjoy this beautiful time of year!
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11
Wednesday morning Josh & Lainey got to help Kate make sugar cookies.
And frosting.
After school I was thankful for Very Helpful Girls to finish frosting LOTS of cookies.
Thursday was reeally cool out but it was still so nice to see the sun.
It didn’t warm up much over day, but kids were still outside a lot. Bundled up well, no one complained or wanted to go inside.
Lodi are still looking good -
Thankful the wind laid somewhat and I had a lot of help to lay out the watermelon tarp.
More time to play.
Peaches look promising too -
Kind of cool for ice cream bars, but no one turned them down.
Friday morning was much warmer. Actually felt like spring, with a few more warm days coming up. Finally time to plant watermelon!
Another job to break up the monotony of playing (haha):
When you have about five dozen trees and they all need to be trimmed with scissors because the weed-whipper tends to be hazardous to the survival of the tree, hire a crew of kids. Skittles are great compensation. All trees were trimmed nicely in about fifteen minutes. Fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies certainly don’t hurt either…
Beautiful day for backyard play once jobs were done.
Here’s how to return a family of cats to their home in the barn -
Lots of smoothie-pops disappeared.
Kids were pretty dirty; might as well stay outside for supper!
Can you count twelve kids?
Blowing off steam -
while the brilliant engineer fixes a *cough* mechanical problem.
Earlier, some wise guy had thrown a plastic plate on the fire which resulted in a lot of really black smoke. Which drifted right over the trampoline. And stuck to the safety net. Which is touched a LOT by little persons.
Which resulted in a lot of THIS:
Josh wanted the fire in the picture, but I cropped it for a better view of this precious face.
The rest of the crew had various degrees of the same, and what dirt they didn’t capture on the trampoline net they found in the sandbox.
And if kids aren’t dirty enough after an entire day outside, have s’mores!
Well if dirt = happiness then we had a lot of happy kids last night, because the others were almost as dirty as he was.
How thankful I am for SHOWERS!
