March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

4-18-13 Boring Week

by Tori

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week have been quite calm and normal (read: boring). We’ve been doing nothing exciting at all, unless school and spring cleaning is considered exciting. I do not bore easily but this week has been pretty lame. Usually I feel like doing stuff, like reading or playing the piano or something, but this week I just am tired of all the normal things. I think it is the weather. It has been abnormally cool with a high around 50 every day so no one even wants to go outside.

I guess one exciting thing that happened was that it rained Monday afternoon and night. That made Jacob’s whole week. It rained yesterday afternoon too.

Mom gave all the boys haircuts Monday. (not exciting)

Tuesday Kate and Sarah had fiddle lessons so I ran them over and then picked them up later. I ironed Tuesday too. After supper Dad and Jacob went and bought a second table saw.

Yesterday afternoon Mom and Kate and younger went to Koch’s for lunch and playtime, which could be classified as exciting, depending on the person. It is not exciting to me because I didn’t go. They also ran to Pekin and bought 250# of strawberries for freezing. Last night we went to church too, which was nice.

Mom has been reading out loud a lot lately also; she’s trying to finish the book before next Tuesday when it goes back to the library.

Maybe next week there will be more going on.

One evening while Mom was reading Sarah built this structure.

Cute little brother.

P1290208

Best pals.

P1290209

Another structure.

P1290211

All the little kids now color out of their new books from the homeschool convention while Mom reads.

[Mom’s note - actually the last 3 px were from Josh’s perspective. I deleted his other 86. Also, contrary to Tori’s perspective, I LOVE BORING.]

[Thankful that Kate & Sarah survived being run over by Tori. And thankful that she picked them up after she ran them over. She’s so nice.]
