March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

3-6-13 More Snow

Oh yes, kids are excited for more snow. Parents not so much.

Late yesterday morning, I did some chasing in Morton. When I left, snow was falling, but roads were clear and visibility was fine. On my way home, it was still snowing, but it had started blowing and roads were starting to get snow packed. A bit slower driving, but still not too bad. Ben took a few px while I was gone.

Kids raced to get school and jobs done so they could enjoy the snow. The new four-wheeler has gotten lots of use, and sleds behind it have given countless rides and dumps in the snow. Doesn’t spell FUN to me, but they seem to love it, and it certainly burns a lot of energy!!!!

It blew overnight and made some beautiful drifts, which Ben photographed this morning.

They were out all afternoon again today, but alas and alack I didn’t get any pictures. They came in snowy, wet, cold, and full of stories of plowing through massive drifts, though, so if all the snow is gone tomorrow, they should still be happy.

Life inside~~~

Kate’s skirt is from The Skirt Outlet in Eureka; not only has it become her favorite skirt, but it has been a very good pattern as we have learned to make denim jeans into denim skirts. Quite easy and a good creative project for a cozy inside afternoon.

Wonderful helper!

My first attempt at a jeans-turned-skirt. It turned out ok, and has become Jewel’s favorite skirt, but there were a few things that I could have done differently (for one thing I would have tried to match the colors better, but that was all I could find at the time. Oh well!).

Good buddies.

A few more skirt projects to do yet, and then………

time to get motivated to do some spring cleaning!!!!!!

Yet now… be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts.
