There’s something we want you to know today. In case you don’t know, you kids are awesome, even though you have your share of mess-ups. Like when the broom handle went through the bathroom door, and when three dozen eggs got scrambled on the floor, or when somebody checks for eggs Sunday morning before church with their Sunday shoes on and expects to clean them off in the van. But hey, you’re kids. And we don’t tell you enough how much we appreciate when you do things that we’ve been trying to teach you. We’re going to try to do better at this.
Like last night, for instance, when Levi and Jesse got home from work at 9:30 or so, and suddenly we realized that you two wouldn’t be here today for Ben’s birthday celebration. Levi immediately suggested that we could wait until Saturday noon to do it, which would be a long wait for Ben, but we agreed to ask him. Well, we asked Ben what he thought, and he thought he would like to wait until Saturday when Levi and Jesse could be with us too. Then we thought maybe we could do it late tonight when L & J got home from work, and Ben thought that was a better idea, so that was the plan. We (Dad & Mom) were so blessed to see the mutual admiration of all three of you boys involved in the decision… what a reward for us to see your care and consideration for each other. Ben, that kind of patience and love for your brothers is wonderful.
Kids, that’s the kind of unselfish spirit and attitude that we desire for each one of you to have. Take a lesson from Ben’s 9th birthday party – when we put others before ourselves, like Ben, Jesse, and Levi all did, we think that’s pretty neat. Big brothers loving little brothers, and little brothers looking up to big brothers. Big brothers have a great influence. Thanks for using it right.
Keep on keepin’ on.
