March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Life Beyond The Pictures - June 2021

Hello Steiners. I had to re-read my last newsletter contribution to see if there is any new news. There really isn’t. Levi’s are still doing well. Kids are growing like wildflowers. We continue to help Jesse’s on their new house. Jason continues to melt us all with his adorableness. Tori is busy with work, piano lessons, and young group and is still patiently waiting on her turn to move out.  Jacob is busy with work, playing guitar with various people, young group activities, and helping out around here some. Kaitlyn is in the middle of her summer classes. Last report was that they’re going well. She’s making hay for Aberle Farms right now and it’s hot out there.  Ben is glad to be done with school and is learning a lot at his summer internship with 360YC. Sarah is glad to be done with school and works about 40 hours a week at various employment. Jewel is glad to be done with school and works 8-10 hours doing accounting at 360YC and keeps busy around here also. Josh is glad to be done with school and does a lot of mowing for Levi, Jesse, CIT, and here. Jewel and Josh are chief gardeners, chore kids, and house helpers. Tim & I keep busy with work and keeping things going around here. With this excessive heat we’ve been to the lake a few times. The water is 88d already and summer hasn’t even officially started. What’s with that? The days are flying by faster all the time and that’s all I know.

Looking forward to seeing some of you at the reunion next month!

Preschool SS 2020-2021

I copied this from Jenny's blog (thank you Jenny 😉) and purposed to take my own group photo to share with all parents. Did I do this on Sunday? No I did not. Will I remember to do this in the next 8 weeks? I certainly hope so. But my forgetter is getting better all the time so we'll see.

So I started teaching ss in October of 2019; taking over for another teacher, I just kind of jumped in with little warning or preparation. A class picture didn't occur to me. We got through Christmas and winter; and then just when I was getting the hang of things, March 2020 hit and that ss year was essentially over. So I have no picture of that class. But maybe their kindergarten teacher would share one with me, hmmm? I will look into that.

Anyway. This is most of the class, and every single one of these kiddos is pretty special. They are so stinking cute and give such big hugs and say such cute things. This age has been a blessing to teach. Even though I'm a little tired by the end of the morning. That's just a lot of energy sitting there, you know?! Sarah helps me every Sunday and I certainly couldn't do it without her. Thank you Sarah💗

Memorial Day Weekend

Last Friday evening we had a few little ones here awhile. Always a blessing.

Some sort of new game they're playing. Doesn't it look fun?

Saturday morning Sarah took these - she and Jewel got to stay with three littles while a painting crew made more progress at Jesse&Lucy's.

Little chunker is almost one, believe it or not. And man what a personality. This grandparenting thing is pretty fun, you know?

All sorts of progress happening.

Lucy and her little helper brought lunch.

Seems like it was cool out. I can't really remember though.

This was just before Jason helped himself to something on Echo's plate. He's learning to share 😊

Back to work - - -

Sunday evening we celebrated Sarah, A. Sandy, and Grandma Steiner's birthdays at U. Dave's. It was a beautiful evening to be outside.

That is a couchful of beauty right there.

Memorial Day - another work day.

Jewel took over weed whipping all the pasture fences.  A huge help.

Dad and Josh were off to do some fencing somewhere.

And Jacob and Grandpa sprayed a few weeds.

We headed to GGK after supper then. Quite a bit of cuteness right there.

A nice drizzly evening - good for a singalong.

😍

Back home - backyard view.

And that was the end of a busy blessed and beautiful weekend.

Collingsworth Family

Thursday night we attended the Midwest Food Bank's annual fundraiser, a gospel concert by the Collingsworth Family. If you've never heard of them, check them out on youtube or spotify. Go see them if you get the chance; they are amazingly talented. We completely enjoyed the evening of worship and praise to our awesome God, and it was a blessing to connect with others we knew from various central IL churches as well.

Some really beautiful young ladies, both inside and out.
