March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Weekend

Saturday 7-30 morning walk.

JonAReds are starting to turn.

In case you wonder why I don't blog much ๐Ÿ˜…

After Austin and Alayna's wedding, Dad & I joined a couple cutests at Jacob & Natalie's. BSJ were at tyg and had dropped Josh off for supper at Jacob's also.

Home again to this:

Sunday 7-31 was a nice day at church. We are so blessed with freedom to worship.
Evening brought a few kids which we always enjoy.

There's just a whole lot of busy in this next px.

Travis was sure enjoying his apple ๐Ÿ˜

I think he enjoyed his oreo more though...

And that's a wrap for July 2022.

Current River 2022

Thankful that Ben along with this crew enjoyed a safe trip to St. Louis and made good *safe* memories at Current River.

Last Week Of July

Monday July 25

Word for the day week month:

peaches

Dad took Josh to Levi's early, while Jewel went to Echo's and I took a walk and picked a few peach and apple drops and picked a few peaches.

These from Jewel:

Back to my camera as I went over to make sure Josh (and I) understood his job as laborer for the block layers. I learned that a laborer keeps the block layers supplied with mortar (aka mud) and blocks, thus increasing the efficiency of the block layers.

Way back in his younger years Dad worked as a laborer (aren't all workers laborers, hmm?) so he had plenty of experience in getting this started for Josh and the layers.

I also learned that a layer of bricks or blocks is called a course. Laying the first course took awhile as everything had to be measured perfectly.

Josh was doing fine, Dad went to work, and I came home to find a peach and a kitten in Brandi's crate. She might be just a little messed up. Jewel returned the kitten to the barn and we all hope it lived Happily Ever After but really who knows?

I picked up Josh around 3:30 and saw much progress!

Evening orchard work.

๐Ÿ˜ž
The peaches are finishing fine but the branch is done.

Tuesday July 26. Dad took Josh to Levi's in the morning,

and around 11:00 I took lunch for him and a few others.

Good to see progress.

Troy and Tyler make this look so easy... but it's definitely not. They're just good at what they do.

Pretty cute audience, imho.

Levi came for awhile.

When I picked Josh up then around 3:00 it was again good to see progress.

Wednesday July 27

Dad took Josh to Levi's in the morning, then Lucy picked up Josh on her way to the lake. Lucy snagged a few px for me at the same time. Thanks Lucy! I enjoy seeing progress!

Lake Day started cloudy but turned sunny; of course it was super humid so water felt great.

That evening we went to Levi's to help set up scaffolding for the next courses.

Gala, left. Reliance, right.

Thursday July 28
Dad took Josh to Levi's and I took an early morning walk.

Brandi was so funny. She wouldn't walk around Dave's garden with me: just sat on the dam and watched me until I walked back up onto the dam.

Back home to more orchard work: still thinning the JonARed tree. I've never seen so many apples on a tree. Idk how that even happens.

This is a CandyKrisp tree and the apples look amazing. Very pretty.

I did some morning errands, ending at Levi's to check out progress and pick up Josh for lunch.

We went to Lucy's awhile then and played with a couple little boys so she could get a start on mowing; then I took Josh back to Levi's.

Over to Levi's in the evening so Dad could help move scaffolding for the layers for Friday.

Comparing a peach from LeviEcho's tree, left, to a peach from our Gala tree. Pretty sure it's a match; taste was identical also.

And peaches keep coming.

Friday July 29

Early morning ride for Jewel, then Jacob & Natalie picked her and Sarah and Josh up for a day at a water park. They had a great day.

Icr what all I did but I know the day absolutely flew by. After a morning walk and orchard work, I probably froze peaches and I think I picked beans too.

Evening walk with Dad.

And that's a wrap for a very busy but safe and blessed week.
