March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Blue Skies & Sunny Days

Well last week was another blink week as in BLINK it was done. And it was sunny and cool for the most part. Just lovely. Anytime I can shut off the ol' AC I'm a happier camper. Although I do appreciate my AC on the 88d days...
Ya, I know. I would not have made a good pioneer. I'm maybe a little soft.

Anyways. Monday was a big laundry day and taking care of apples and school and making supper and Idk what else. That evening Dad & I enjoyed the moonrise from the patio. Gorgeous.

Josh raked up some acorns and spread them in the South Grove and pasture. Hopefully we'll get some oak trees in a few years.

Idr much about Tuesday because I didn't take px. That means I didn't do much, haha. It was a beautiful evening though... clouds and all.

Wednesday morning, Levi & Echo brought us these three sweethearts.

Charity and her girls also came for the morning. Glad for lots of help with dried apples.

Sunny yes but also super windy and cool. Delightful.

Quiet time didn't quite work out as I hoped ๐Ÿ˜

Helping me pick up windfalls.

A walk to see the calves...

turned into a hike in the cornfield to pick up ears that the combine missed.

Kiowa put this ear of corn's hair into a bun ๐Ÿ˜„

Jasper was very good at his job of putting ears in the bucket.

Meanwhile, these two enjoyed their time away together in southern IL.

Evening walk with Dad -

Three tired little ones went to sleep good and slept well. We were so glad to have them here and very thankful for a quiet night.
