March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Rainy Days

Last Monday evening Jesse had a few questions for Dad, so we stopped by there before we took a walk.

There were lots of staples to pull out of the floor, so Tuesday afternoon Lucy met us there and we had a staple-pulling party.

Jewel had to try this novel position after Sarah extolled its virtues.

After awhile, Levi and Jesse showed up and another wall disappeared.

Jewel got to help with that,

while Sarah and I were assigned an upstairs job,

Jacob and Ben did electrical work,

and Josh hauled and burned.
Dad came after work, and U. Jerry stopped by with advice and encouragement.

Dad & I and 3 littles left then; Idk how long others were there. Progress may not be evident, but it is there!

Loved having this little tyke and his mom hang out awhile on a rainy Wednesday.

Josh found a unique use for this box while Clay impatiently waited his turn.

😍

Thursday was another super windy rainy day. I used to dislike rainy days but no more. Rainy days are quiet and cozy and cause a lot of thankfulness for my warm dry house. In the past when I had a houseful of littles - not so cozy. More like chaos😄

Afternoon brought us a sweet Kruz.

Also a Schmidgall crew who is always willing to sample fresh cookies.

Beautiful sunset Thursday after the rain finally moved out.

Thankful for these bar stools from Levi&Echo. They are well used and loved.

Friday Sarah babysat three sweet little cousins here.

And then another Pekin rink skate. Thankful we've had the chance to do this again this year. Kids have enjoyed it thoroughly and are not excited that Friday skates are ending soon.

Some kids to tyg Friday night; Jewel & Josh rode horses; Dad & I walked on a beautiful evening.

Another reason to enjoy rain - tile is full. That is good.

Monopoly Deal never gets old, ha!

And that's it for last week.
