March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

8-29-14 Saturday Evening

Well there’s still hope I’ll get caught up on posts one of the these days. These pictures are from Saturday evening after the Rink Reunion when we had my family here. It cooled off to be a delightful evening which was only made delightfuller by singing at the end of it. Can’t beat that, especially the men singing. Absolutely beautiful.

First a Kate report. She had a really good night, waking up only once (that she remembers) and going right back to sleep. No fever, no discomfort, no babies crying, no machines beeping. And what a comfortable bed, her very own. She’s been tired today, which is to be expected since I had to wake her up relatively early to get her to Morton Peds for a post-hospital check. Dr. Cross was pleased with what he saw and said don’t come back unless she’s nauseous, has high fever, the leg starts looking worse, or she starts feeling worse again. Which she hasn’t today, thankfully. If you think of her please say a prayer that she can continue on the path of healing. The actual wound looks pretty ugly still; he said it’ll look bad for another day or two before it stops oozing and starts drying up. I’m glad to know what to expect. And I’m glad she’s feeling so good. As we drove to town this morning, I noticed spider webs in her hair where she had been in the barn looking for the new litter of kittens after she did her horse chores. Guess that illustrates pretty clearly how good she felt!

A few px of last Saturday evening.
