March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Yesterday morning snow flurries produced HUGE flakes. Thankfully they didn’t stick around long.

The icy wind yesterday kept kids in most of the day, so log construction flourished.

I deleted most of the 86 (really!) pictures of Lincoln Logs on the camera but decided I’d better publish a few.

And in the background – that is Tori’s lap with a cross-stitch book on it! Yes! Kate hauled out the stuff and asked for help which I was glad to give, and soon Sarah wanted to start something, and Tori was soon working on a project she started two winters ago. Jewel wanted to start something, so tonight I got her started, and then I worked on my project too!! (The one that Dad started before we got married. Maybe this is the winter it gets finished…..)

More construction early this morning, before school even started.

The older three were out a couple of hours; littles were out just long enough to get a little fresh air. They’re still coughing around so I didn’t want them out very long when it was so cold, but oh they enjoyed their brief outside time. It was a beautiful day.

That’s it; thanks for reading!
