Nuggets Along the Trail: 8-20-12 Short Post

Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

8-20-12 Short Post

Dad had to make sure this backpack still worked for Josh so we could take it to Colorado with us. It’s a good thing Josh liked because I think he’s going to be spending a lot of time in it while we hike. His little legs get tired after about ~~ten~~ five minutes of walking.

Josh likes getting wagon rides but he doesn’t like giving them.

Sunday night A. Sarah came for supper and then we went to the singing at the fellowship hall.

I don't want to get in the way of your plans or make you feel obligated to anything... but we'd love to see you if it would work out. I was just reminded that one of our favorite annual events is Labor Day weekend - the hot air balloon festival in Colorado Springs. Mass ascensions of dozens of balloons are scheduled for Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings with a Balloon Glow scheduled for Saturday and Sunday evenings. When you've got a lot of irons in the fire, sometimes you're gonna get burnt.
