Nuggets Along the Trail: 1-17-12 Snow Fun

Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

1-17-12 Snow Fun

Yesterday the snow was very sticky and it was very easy to make a snow house. Sarah, Ben, Jewel, and I made a snowman and a snow fort. We had a lot of fun. I just looked out the window this morning and the snow was almost all gone! The snow fort had melted down some too. We had fun in the snow while it lasted!! Mom came out to take a walk and took all of these pictures.

We were all ~~wet~~ soaked when we came in but we had a lot of fun!!

We filled up buckets of really packed snow and then we dumped them out where we wanted them. Then we filled in the cracks with other snow. The snow has to be very sticky to make a snow fort.

The snowman that I made didn’t turn out very good, but Jewel had fun with it anyway!!

We have had a lot of fun in the snow these last couple of days.

Jewel! Where are your gloves? It makes my hands cold to see your hands! I'll have to check for fingers next time I see you.

Mom-isms

When you've got a lot of irons in the fire, sometimes you're gonna get burnt.
