March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

5-8-11 Mother’s Day

Yes, I had a wonderful Mother’s Day in spite of being home from church with three coughy schnotzy littles. Thankfully they were feeling fine but I was glad to contain the germs here at home and listen online…even outside with the windows open and the Emerson turned up high. Love that Emerson radio. Not quite a Bose, ok ASK, maybe not even close, but it’s still pretty good. :)

Josh was so pleased to help make breakfast for Mommy.

Morning shenanigans…a 36” battle. 36” belt versus 36” yardstick. Whatever.

After dishes (of which I again did NOTHING!) we enjoyed a wonderful evening outside. The weather was soooo pleasant, and perfect for flying a kite (thanks Jesse for fixing our faithful kite)(which we’ve had for about 10 years!).

And the sunset was beyond description.

Yeah, love my teenagers too. They’re pretty good sports when I want to play with my camera :)

Quote of the day (by Jacob)(referring to having a fire with s’mores): “If Mom wants to do it, Dad doesn’t have a choice!” (Oh really????!!!!!!!! That’s NOT quite the way it works, Jacob!!)

P1050105

ASK had the camera for these fire pictures…I don’t know how she did it, but some of them are pretty neat.

Time for good-byes.

Thus ended another wonderful Mother’s Day!

  1. So many pictures! Thanks and here's a few comments:

Emerson radio? I thought it was a Phillips. Even if it's not a Bose, it is pretty nice!

And Jesse . . . you better take down Jacob while you can, because it looks like he's going to catch up with you soon and then you might end up on bottom sometimes!

Great picture of Jewel's delight holding the kite.

I'm glad you like the fire pictures. I think they could have been a little better, but then, it was too dark to be playing with the settings or to see how each picture turned out.
