March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Sunday Evening

Nice to be at Tori's for the evening. She has a beautiful home.

And the company was unbeatable.

And that's that.

Blue

Saturday was just a really Blue day. I mean, look at that sky! Is that not gorgeous?

 To God Be The Glory.

Glad to see the bull leave for awhile.

It was also just a really cold day. High temp was 27 I think. Josh didn't bother with a coat though... after all, he had on three hoodies. Whatever. He was pulling sheets of ice out of the lake then smashing them on the remaining sheets. Flint said he was warm too, but Kiowa was already at the house waiting for me to come read books to her. Which of course I was glad to do.

So thankful that all boys came to help cut down these two big stumps. That'll make some nice firewood next winter. But who wants to think about that already???

More blue.

Dad giving orders, bc that's his job,

and kids following orders, bc that's their job.

Jacob & Jesse (I think)

Sunday afternoon was warm - like mid-50s - and no one was sad to see the snow disappear. Here is "stump" #1,

and "stump" #2.
And more blue.

And a Very Happy Dog.

I think she's part greyhound.

Nice to see you, Blue. Hope to see lots more of you.
😊

Happy Birthday Ben

Back to last Monday. I think it was cold. Can hardly remember that far back. At any rate, Josh pointed out this unique scene to me. Idk if I've ever seen such a beautiful red glow on those trees.

Later that evening, Ben hosted his college yg for Bible study. Dad, Jewel, Josh & I ran around Morton awhile then landed home just in time for the singing. These kids can really sing; and who needs books anyway? Their songs are all online. It's a different singing than I had in the yg; but still the same goal: singing praises to our Creator.

Tuesday afternoon "studying." Sarah maybe stayed up a bit too late with the college crowd Monday night😆

Jewel makes sure Diamond doesn't have a chance to get fat & lazy.

Wednesday brought a few faves for awhile.
**not sure who took all these px. I took some, Sarah took some, Jewel took some**

Jasper is always eager to have another lunch when Sarah gets home from work.

Pretty sure Sarah took most of these - thanks Sarah. It was pretty cool out, so some of us stayed in the cozy warm house.

Choretime later.

I did my spring ditch cleanup; these silly things were so curious when I picked up some trash from the ditch beside their hay pile.

Thursday it snowed all afternoon. I have no px bc I wasn't terribly impressed.
By Friday morning we had about 4"; since warmer days were forecast, we knew it wouldn't be here long. No one went sledding or four-wheeling though!

I spent some time with AB. We were talking about war; I find it interesting that AB had cousins that died in WW2. It wasn't that long ago... and she lived what we read about. As did ggk and many others. Anyway, talking about cousins led to genealogy books which is what AB is best at. She was so cute showing me different articles of interest. We started with two books...

but ended up with six...which is probably not even half of the ones she has! And it's not all family history - if you're local and wonder who anyone is, AB probably has something about them in one of her books.

That evening Kaitlyn brought a few Baers over for awhile since David & Jenna were hosting potluck.

The rest of us enjoyed this beauty as we headed north to U. Dave's for the evening.

Ben turned 20 Friday! and Silas turned 20 the week before; so we got to celebrate them both. Happy Birthday Ben & Silas!

💗

And that's all the px I got of that night so this is
the end.
