March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

Tugboats

Well on this gorgeous fourth Friday in May, I'm flying along on this blog catchup thing. I've been trying to sit down and catchup for weeks now and finally today is the day. I'm realizing that it's much easier to sort and archive pictures and memories as I go than it is to catchup weeks later, but sometimes at the end of the day when I have time to blog, my mind is simply mush. Toast. Scrambled eggs. Etc. And so I don't.
Anyway.
Here we go - - -

Monday, May 11 we had a little Auggie for a day. Absolute sweetheart and stinkingest cute.

Tuesday, May 12. Don't remember why this little man was here but he and Uncle Josh always have good times with all things boy.

Robin's eggs hatched in the apple tree. Funny-looking little critters.

I planted a few herbs this year. These px are mostly for the record. So when if they get overtaken by weeds I can still remember what I planted. We'll see how this goes.

I also planted basil. Not sure where that px went. Oh well.

Stunning reminder that amidst the chaos of this life, God Is Still On The Throne!

Ben and Josh make these favorite snacks several times a week. They are called Tugboats, and I didn't invent them. Years ago I found the recipe in a homemaker magazine, and the rest is history. They're pretty tough.

Layer as shown in the picture:
1. graham cracker
2. peanut butter
3. miniature marshmallows
4. chocolate chips

Broil until marshmallows are lightly browned and chocolate chips are soft and melty.
That's it.
Enjoy!

Wednesday, May 13. Random strangeness shows up around here sometimes. Like leftover hotdogs in the cupboard.
Brandi enjoyed them.

Wednesdays around here are usually full of littles.

Litter #1 of four total.

Jewel does a great job taking care of the horses.

That's it. I just might get this ol' blog caught up today - - -

Mother's Day And More

Monday, May 4 brought a few friends for lunch. Ella and Nova really liked their ride!

A whole lot of cuteness on one swing.

Wednesday May 6. Kruzie was not impressed with the new chicks.

More work with wood.

Seems like somebody might've been swinging but I don't remember. I do remember it was cool. Most May 2020 days have been cool, cloudy, and/or rainy.

Photo credit to Lucy on this one. Jason is 2 months old and ridiculously adorable. He saves his best smiles for his dad and mom but they share the px with us so we still get to savor the sweetness.

Thursday, May 7. For a few days there we had card houses going up all over. It's challenging!

Friday, May 8. Brandi was so funny this day. It was cold out (as usual), and she was missing her rug because I was washing it or something. So she found this sweatshirt and scrunched her whole body onto it as much as she could. At one point her head was down, placed precisely where it wouldn't touch the tile. Perhaps she's a little spoiled.

Saturday, May 9. I have no pictures of the day so I don't remember what we did. I do know that since this was our Mother's Day celebration, I didn't do any of the food prep for supper. This was really nice! I usually have a lot of help making meals, but this time I planned nothing, I executed nothing, I cleaned up nothing. A delightful Mother's Day gift!
This was also Jason's first time at the table with us.

The kids did a music program for me for my Mother's Day gift. Absolutely the best gift ever. I recorded all the songs and have enjoyed them many times since. They hadn't played together in a long time (why???)(Idk!!!), but to this mama's ears, it was beautiful.

**welp it looks like the video is too big to upload on blogger so I guess it's a picture instead of a video**

Sunday, May 10. Mother's Day.
Levi's forgot to bring this card Saturday evening, so Echo sent this picture Sunday morning. Kiowa's smile made my day. These two are just the cutest ever.

More card houses, this time a new design. Come to find out some people make these houses 20+ feet high. And not just houses either. Stadiums, cathedrals, towers. Who knew? And how in the world do they do it? When the slightest breeze or whisper can knock the whole thing down?

Driving to Grandpa/Grandma Kaisers after supper, we were blessed by this beautiful rainbow whose end landed right over the Aberle Dairy. Beautiful, and another beautiful reminder of God's eternal promises.

And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth

Genesis 9: 12-16

May

May has just flown by like an out-of-control kite. Here's a peek at what's been happening around here.

Way back to Saturday, May 2. Tree trimming.

Horses were going nuts in their pasture. It looked like they were little kids let out of school...they were kicking up their heels, throwing back their heads, racing around like maniacs. Fun to see.
Also note apple blossoms.

Pruning is done for the year.

Along with tree trimming comes wood cutting and log splitting.

An early nice day in May - Jason's first lake visit. Such a cutie.

Living the dream.

All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all.

Kids had friends over for a beautiful Saturday evening singing.

And fellowship.

And food.
(of course)

More wood cutting.

More living the dream.
