First a bit of catch up. When the kids blog, they don’t use all the px in the file. I like to post them so they are saved in cyberspace. Here are a few from recent days.
????
In remembrance of sunshine!!
Seriously, this was from Saturday which was I think the last time we’ve seen the sun until today! It came out for a brief time late yesterday afternoon but that was it for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the week. We were glad for a bit of sunshine today!
For the record. Josh is very attached to his teddy bear lately. It does everything with him, even helping to pick up toys and do puzzles with Mom, and run the computer mouse with Sarah. So sweet!!!!!!!!
Keeping Daddy young *smile*
Josh likes to reorganize our library occasionally.
Precious!!!!!
Our wonderful Dad at work!!!!!
(thanks BA!)
Fun with Magz -
Yesterday Kate took her turn at making bread. She was very emphatic that this time it would turn out better than last time, when someone let it rise too high AND bake too long which resulted in less-than-wonderful bread, all of which was not her fault! She also timed herself and learned that she can have it in the pans, ready to bake, in 35 minutes!! Impressive, I say!!
Mmmmmmm
Garlic bread to be buttered/garliced and frozen for next week.
Here’s another recipe to remember.
The recipe is from Cheri, who calls it German Chocolate Cake. But that’s what this box says, which is NOT what Cheri’s finished dessert is. So we’re calling it Cheri’s Chocolate Cake Dessert which is far better than just Betty Crocker SuperMoist German Chocolate Cake with As Always Pudding in the Mix.
No contest.
It’s Very Easy, and Very Elegant, and Very Extremely Delicious!!
Start with this. Bake as directed in a 9x13 pan.
Remove from oven, immediately poke holes with wooden spoon handle, and drizzle with this:
Thus:
Let cool completely. Top with 8 ounces of thawed whipped topping. Crush 2 heath bars and sprinkle over all.
Refrigerate until supper and ENJOY!!!!
Yesterday afternoon Tori made blueberry muffins for supper; she had some pretty sweet helpers *smile*
Scrumptious dessert -
Ornery kid -
Today I took my camera as I walked – and oh did I enjoy the sunshine that occasionally peeked out from behind the clouds!! Jacob told me the windchill was 26 degrees, and it certainly felt like it. For the record – our woodburner is going and it’s going FINE. I appreciate it so much!!!!
One of our faithful blog readers requested more px of the green of the lake – so - - - here’s a lake update -
You know we don’t have much going on when the most excitement is watching the lake fill up. “Mom, the lake is up about 8 inches today!” “Mom, you know the knob by the measuring stick – well, it’s covered now!” “Mom, the dam between the two biggest sections is finally covered!” *smile*
Grandpa Kaiser has been wanting this dead tree down which was staked to a steel fencepost as a sapling. Dad and the kids pulled and cut down most of it, but since the tree grew around the fencepost, they obviously couldn’t cut down the last few feet of it. So Grandpa has been gradually burning the stump (between rains) until the fencepost can be extracted. I took a few px today, and I can also attest that the fencepost is still very firmly entrenched in the stump. A few more burnings and hopefully it will finally be gone. It’s kind of neat though – and quite amazing that this huge tree survived and thrived (for many years anyway) with a piece of steel inside it!
I tried to get the curve of the stump so the overall diameter of the tree would be evident, but it was kind of hard to do.
Last but not least:
Tuesday night at Bibletime Dad read to us from Proverbs, and then he asked us all to write a few, which he then read to us all. It was quite thought-provoking and led to some lengthy discussions about the Proverbs of Solomon, proverbs in general, and how they apply to life. A very beneficial exercise which we all thoroughly enjoyed; I highly recommend it.
