March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

MO Part 1

Our family trip this year was to a beautiful lodge near Kirksville, MO. Dad & I drove out Thursday morning, wandering back roads and taking our time. Our lodge was on this lovely lonely gravel road.

Later that night, Tori brought Sarah, Jewel, & Josh; and Ben & Coreena arrived soon after (before?? Idr). Friday morning Dad & I had planned to do some thrifting and sightseeing, and everyone else wanted to come too so we had a good time!
Always good to find some history.

And thrift stores.

And this pizza was delicious.

Meanwhile, the rest of our crowd was on their ways at various times...
oops😕

Thankfully, everyone arrived safely by suppertime.

Saturday morning.

😍

After breakfast, everyone participated in a few games,

read a few books,

wrote a few poems,
(why didn't I save any????? They were GOOD)

built a few towers,

drew a few pictures,

took a turn at the puzzle,

went down the tunnel slide,

took a short walk,

and then Dad & I had a tough job judging...

and I don't even remember who won, but I think everyone had fun... so everyone won😊😊😊

After lunch, everyone enjoyed the beautiful pond.

😍

Pickleball tournament started Saturday morning and continued all day, and by that night, Dad & I were undefeated 😳

Beautiful evening outside after supper.

There was a .3 mile nature trail that started here by the cornfield and went through the woods. Not sure why I got no px but there were two wooden bridges that were pretty neat.

I brought Skye back, and the rest took the long way around the pond.
