March 2024

March 2024
Over the years, we've always compared our family life to a wagon train heading west. Just as everyone had to do his part to get to Oregon years ago, so everyone in our family must do his/her part to make our journey through life successful. If somebody climbs in the wagon and lets the others do the work, we just don't make any progress. We all have to pull our weight and work together. Along the trail we find lots of pebbles that make for a smooth ride and some bigger rocks that jar us a little; we hit the occasional pothole that can slow us down. But if we purpose to search diligently, there are countless gold nuggets and precious gemstones along the way as well. This journal is an attempt to preserve some of those precious moments for our children, and our children's children, as together we travel this trail called life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

April Lake Week

Monday April10. First day of a wonderfully unseasonable warm streak.

Evening visit to the lake turned into swimming for some. Yes the water was cold. Didn't seem to matter to this crowd!

This was Wyatt's first time ever going off the rope swing. He didn't flinch or hesitate one iota... just took off like a boss!

Tuesday April 11. An even warmer day. After school fun.

Wednesday April 12.  "Lunch and wading" turned into swimming. Water was still pretty chill but with temps in upper 70s, kids loved it. If you can't tell, we are ready for summer!

Echo sent me this of a tired little sweetheart💗

Thursday April 13. Warm and sunny again and needing a break from sunshine. Precious littles kept busy in the backyard.

Planting season. Find Grandpa walking across the field and his car parked beside the road. Not bad for a 92yo.

😍

After supper, Skeet got in on some lake time too.

August was terribly impressed with Ava's huge fish that only girls could see😆

Friday April 14. Yet another upper 70/80d day, this time with Sarah's usual morning crowd.

Coreena and August helped me do some re-potting.

First a sandbox lake,

then on to Dave's lake.

The van trunk made a great spot for Tritt to nap,

while August just played and played.

Of course a break for snack.

People kept showing up - all the more fun.

Coreena's first lake day, and she attempted and mastered the top level!

Saturday April 15. Last of the warm days.

😑

And that was it for the April Lake Week. It was great while it lasted and we're all very patiently (or not) waiting for more.
Come on summer.
